What is Snorkeling?

Snorkeling is a popular recreational activity that allows people to explore the underwater world without needing scuba gear. It is relatively simple to learn and can be enjoyed by people of all ages. All you need is a mask, snorkel, and fins. The mask covers your eyes and nose, providing a clear view of the underwater environment. The snorkel allows you to breathe without coming up for air, and the fins help you move through the water more efficiently. When snorkeling, you must be aware of your surroundings and avoid touching or disturbing the local marine life. Snorkeling can be an enjoyable way to experience the beauty of the underwater world with a bit of practice.

How to put on your snorkel gear

Most people are familiar with the basics of snorkeling: wearing a mask to cover your eyes, using a snorkel tube to breathe through your nose, and flippers to help you swim. However, putting on the gear can be trickier. Here are some steps to ensure you're adequately equipped for a day of underwater adventure.

First, adjust the straps on your mask to fit snugly but not too tightly around your face. Next, wet the inside of the mask lens and put it over your eyes. Then, take a deep breath through your nose and hold the mask against your face while exhaling slowly. This will help to prevent the mask from fogging up.

Next, put the snorkel tube in your mouth and bite lightly on the mouthpiece. The tube should be pointing upwards, away from your face. To put on the flippers:

  1. Step into them and pull them up over your feet.

  2. Make sure they fit snugly but not too tightly.

  3. Adjust the straps on your fins so they're comfortable but won't slip off while swimming.

With these simple steps, you'll be ready to enjoy all the underwater world has to offer!

How to breathe through a snorkel

For many people, swimming with a snorkel can be daunting. After all, how can you breathe through a tube sticking out of your mouth? However, with practice, anyone can quickly learn to use a snorkel. The key is to take slow, steady breaths and avoid gulping air. When starting, it is also helpful to exhale slightly more than you inhale. This will help to prevent you from feeling lightheaded or dizzy. The snorkel is designed to allow you to breath while swimming on the surface. As long as you're looking down with your face in the water, and the snorkel is positioned correctly above your head, no water will be able to get in. If you want to swim below the surface take a deep breath and hold it while you are underwater. When you come back to the surface you will need to purge the water in the snorkel by blowing out a big puff of air. If in the beginning you try unsuccessfuly to get all the water out remove the snorkel from you mouth and breath normally. With a bit of practice, you'll be breathing through your snorkel like a pro in no time.
