What is a Hot Air Balloon

“Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

A hot air balloon is an aircraft consisting of a large bag called an envelope filled with hot air. The hot air balloon is kept aloft by the heat generated by burning liquid fuel, such as propane, in a built-in burner. The envelope also has several open or closed valves to adjust the hot air inside, affecting ascent and descent. Balloons typically have a basket attached to the bottom for carrying passengers and cargo.

Most people have never been on a hot air balloon, so they are still determining what to expect. The experience is quite relaxing and serene. Once airborne, you'll gently float along with the wind, often rising and falling with the thermal currents. You may even get close enough to the ground to catch a glimpse of some wildlife! And, of course, you'll have an incredible landscape view up high.

There are many different hot air balloons to choose from, so it's essential to do your research before you book a ride. Some companies specialize in private rides for two people, while others offer group rides with up to 20 people. There are also special shape balloons - usually in the form of an animal - that are popular with kids and families. And if you want to make an impression, there are even hot air balloons you can ride inside!

There are hot air balloon rides available in locations all around the world. In addition to traditional locations like France and America's Southwest desert, you can now find hot air balloon rides in places like Australia's Outback, Costa Rica's rainforest, and even icebergs in Antarctica! So wherever your travels take you, there's sure to be a hot air balloon ride waiting for you.
